Round 9 – Daytona (2hr Endurance)
Barry Baird once again could not join Jason Dilworth and Simon Underhill for Round 9 at a circuit the NOMADs have driven many many times before. Jason unfortunately had to sit out the Qualifying due to a penalty imposed upon himself from Round 8.
Simon Qualified 9th, top AM driver, Jason at the back of the grid. After a clean start it was all about settling down and putting in the consistent laps. The FORD felt really quick, the BMW also had potential for a top 10 position. It was a sudden lack of concentration that ended Simon's run, hitting the wall out of the bus stop resulting in using the only Quick Repair available. Taking on a bit of fuel meant also the pit strategy was out of the window.
Both cars then ran the rest of the race on the same tyres for the whole 2hrs hoping others would change them within their pit stop wondows. Overall, NOMAD Green Team scored decent points, gaining one position as a whole in the Championship.
The lead for the AM crown is now 29 points difference to Michael Blake, with 3 races to go. This is going to be an interesting end of the season. Make sure you tune in and give support to the NOMADs by clicking here
