In a frantic weekend of action to qualify for two out of the three series that IVRA are running this year, we're excited to announce that both our Mercedes AMG GT3 cars managed to make it through to the GT Sprint series.
The weekend involved races on both days, with the Saturday being for our Aston Martin GT4 driven by Tom Stanley and Jason Dilworth with the aim of getting into the ClubSport series. Unfortunately they weren't successful in a highly competitive grid, so it was onto the next day.
Sunday brought more racing, with the Division 3 #356 car driven by Tony Baird and Ayden Refaie putting on a great display in split 2. Having lead for a large portion of the race, and staying out of the way of any major incidents, qualification for that car was all but confirmed on race day.
The Division 2 #256 car driven by Jason Dilworth also had a solid race in an even more competitive field, starting in 10th and making his way up to 4th in class in his split through the race. Finishing with zero incidents was helpful, but with such a strong field there was a nail-biting wait for a few days until the announcement came that this car had made it in too.
The team now look forward to preparing for the first event at Nurburgring at the end of October as well as the rest of the season, but first we have another qualifying event to do this week in the LMP2.
