Round 1 of WSL GT3 Season 5 couldn't have gotten off to much of a better start for Taylor Lane in his first league outing in Prestanda NOMAD colours – taking first place overall in a race of attrition at the Nordschleife.

WSL Nords Taylor

Five cars are present for the team this season. Three others in the Pro category in the shape of Chris Chadderton, Håkon Eide Lindmo and Jon Williams, with Dean Timms taking his place in the Pro Am category. Qualifying was strong, with Chris, Håkon and Jon adding to Taylor's pole with P3, P5 and P8 respectively in Pro and Dean taking another pole position for the team in his class.

The first lap was tough for three of the guys, with Håkon first to have a spin in the GP section of the track soon followed by Chris early into the Green Hell. Meanwhile Dean took an early commanding lead in class, and Taylor dropped to 2nd to a flying Albin Kjellberg.

More drama in the following laps though, with Jon spinning on lap two and Dean dropping the car on lap three from a decent Pro Am lead meaning he was out of contention and tasked with bringing the car home to an eventual 10th place in class.

WSL Nords Jon

Jon struggled with damage for the rest of his race, pulling back to P7 in class at the end as others dropped out. Håkon and Chris meanwhile kept themselves clean to finish P4 and P6 respectively and take a good haul of points – Håkon even managed to sneak the fastest lap on the final lap.

But in the end it was all about Taylor – with Albin suffering from a brake pedal failure in the late stages, Taylor nursed a 15 second lead over the final laps to take home a well deserved and strong first win for the team. A great start to the season for the squad to take forwards into the next round and beyond.

Driver Comments

"Pace was good enough for what I wanted, however on lap 2 I took my eyes off the screen for less than one second and I put it into a wall, which gave me 5 minutes and 30 seconds of optionals. I was very lucky not to have a meatball. But I'll take the P7 tonight! Good points to start with, now to focus on Silverstone." &emdash;
"It could have gone better, but we made a mistake on cold tyres and got punished for it. Good recovery drive to sixth, so onward to next week at Silverstone!" Chris Chadderton Chris Chadderton
